RV & Tent Camping in Cherryville, BC

Gold Panner Campground sits at 423 Highway 6, just outside Cherryville, BC: along the iconic Rainforest to Rockies route from Vancouver to Calgary. A short, scenic drive from Vernon and Lumby in the heart of the Thompson Okanagan. Our RV and tent sites sit in the foothills of the Monashee Mountains, on the grounds of an active, registered placer gold claim, so camping here comes with a working piece of BC mining history right outside your tent flap.

Is Gold Panner Campground good for RV camping?

Yes! We welcome RVs and tents on the same grounds, with a varying levels of service from dry camping through full service. A free RV dump station for registered campers is on site ($10 for day-use visitors passing through) and coin-operated showers plus flush toilets in season (approx. May Long through Thanksgiving weekend). We have an extensive trail network on site for hiking and exploring, as well as two beautiful creeks a short walk from the campsites. Free Wi-Fi is available at the Gold Panner Apothecary (front office), and Telus coverage is strong across the property.

What's included with a campsite?

Full services run from approximately May long weekend through Thanksgiving weekend; dry camping is available year-round at a discounted rate for those who don't need showers or water hookups. Registered guests have access to all of our wonderful hiking trails and creeks running through the property. Firewood is sold on-site (birch and fir, by the bundle. Outside firewood isn't permitted, which is standard practice to keep invasive pests and tree diseases out of the Monashees. Propane fire ring rentals are available to rent for $20/night when open campfires are restricted.

What is there to do without leaving the property?

  • Gold panning: Gold Panner Campground is one of the only campgrounds in BC where guests can legally hand-pan an active placer claim. Passes are available at the Apothecary.
  • Marked hiking trails run from the property into the surrounding Monashee foothills, leading down to two creeks running right through the property.
  • Playground and Book Nook building

Do you allow ATVs on site?

For the safety and enjoyment of all guests: ATVs, dirt bikes, side-by-sides (UTVs), mini bikes, and other off-road or recreational motorized vehicles are not permitted within the campground. Only Class 1 e-bikes (pedal-assist only, with no throttle) are permitted. All bicycles and e-bikes must be operated safely, at a reasonable speed, and with consideration for pedestrians and other guests.

When are full services available?

Water service (including wash house) start up & end dates are temperature dependent, but typically full services are available from May long weekend through Thanksgiving weekend. Dry camping is available year round at an automatically discounted rate.

Is there wi-fi at the campground?

We are working to get wi-fi available across the campground, but for now, free wi-fi is available at the Gold Panner Apothecary in the front office. Telus network gets great reception throughout most of the property.

Do you have an RV dump station?

Yes! The rv dump station is free for registered campers or $10 for those just passing through.
